Derp is a screensaver for MRE (MediaTek's MAUI Runtime Environment).
Features:
I didn't use anything to sign my applications. For assetless version of the app, you can add pictures "main.gif", "npc.gif", "moon.gif" in the same folder the app is. The version with assets consumes about 350K of RAM, so there's about 650K of free memory for GIFs you'd wish to sideload. GIFs have to be unoptimized, or else you're getting artifacts during playback. They are played at a constant speed of 10 FPS. For larger GIFs or weaker phones you can use XimikBoda's VxpRequirementRemover.vxp to make changes to the executable right on the phone.
To add up to 16 custom "NPCs", list filenames separated by ? (question marks) in file called derpnpc.dat encoded with UTF-8 without BOM. To add up to 64 custom quotes, list them in this format:
0,0,0,0,13,Hello, world!,.
... where, the first digit stands for mode, the next three ones are parameters, the next number is length of text in characters; commas divide the parameters and quotes, dot after a quote means the file's end. This file is to be saved in UTF-8 without BOM as well.
0 = Always, leave all the parameters at zero. 1 = Month, 0, 0. 2 = Month, Day, 0. 3=Month, 0, Year. 4 = Minutes, Minutes, 0. 5 = Weekday, Minutes, Minutes (where 0 = Sun, 6 = Sat)
In fact, the code is error-resistant, but since MRE doesn't provide any memory protection, you better be careful. Contact me for any suggestions.
Due to XTGem's limitations, sample files will be displayed online as text files.
